Living proof that determination rewards you with success
I remember hearing from adults and coaches growing up that no matter what, if you really want to achieve something in life, you can do it. So after busting my balls for five years at Northeastern and only having 15 meaningless innings on the mound to show for it, I got a little pissed at all of those people for lying to me for so many years. Complete BS.
Then this morning I came across this video of some dickbag trying to skate off his roof and land on the pavement below. The first attempt ended badly, but he at least landed on the skateboard and got up again, and so I said, "You know, you have to admire the balls on this kid." Then he tried a second time, and when he left the skateboard on the roof and faceplanted on the ground, I wasn't even thinking about whether he could end up pulling this off; I thought he was dead. But maybe all those people were right, and I'm just some no talent ass clown, because after about 10 failed attempts, this idiot actually landed the jump. And starting Sunday at the batting cages, I'll begin my road back to the big leagues with a 30 pitch bullpen and a few rounds of BP.

Chick gets put to sleep in street fight
Ask any of my buddies and they'll tell you, I love me a good street fight video. Back when I first discovered the wonders of YouTube, I used to sit there and search terms like, "brutal street fight KO"; "bloody KO"; "god awful knockout". Most of these fights ended violently via (T)KO. Some guy beaten badly to the point where he is either flatlined or his buddies have to step in and call a halt to the action.
But with the recent explosion of MMA, particularly UFC, a new era has dawned in the priceless world of street fighting: the use of submissions. I've yet to see someone pull guard and entice a tap out via toe lock, but based on the video below, we may not be far off:
This begs the question: If you're in a street fight and either submitting or being submitted, do you respect your opponent's request to tap out, or do you tap out if you feel yourself going to sleep or your knee about to explode? What would you do, on either side of the fence?
Thanks to Ian B. for the tip on this video.

Before Boom went the Dynamite
Check out this fantastic sports cast from all the way back in 1995. This guy is bad, but his production crew should get most of the blame. Take a look...

Look Out Cleveland!

1st place Cavs get Antawn Jamison (20.5 points, 8.8 rebounds) for what is likely going to be the 30th pick in the 2010 Draft. (Big Z will be back)
Celtics get Nate Robinson... but give up Eddie House and their 2008 Draft (Bill Walker/ J.R. Giddens.)
Great.

More Fun with the Trade Machine
Not much happening... yet. Marcus Camby was stolen by the Trail Blazers for Steve Blake and Travis Outlaw. Still waiting on the Amare Stoudemire deal, looks like the Cavs or Heat. Either way Amare would be paired with LeBron or Wade, maybe that will light a fire under him. Maybe.
Until then let's enjoy the trade machine a little bit. These deals would shake things up a little bit...
New Jersey Nets: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yknrda7
Match up problems galore. Steve Nash, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Amare Stoudemire, Brook Lopez... bench is, well... you'd need to sign some D-Leaguers
New York Knicks: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yk7ko9k
Wow. Mo Williams, Dwyane Wade, Vince Carter, LeBron James, Dwight Howard... and still David Lee and Nate Robinson coming off the bench. Why wouldn't they do this?
But in all seriousness what if these 4 teams got involved... Celtics, Spurs, Bulls, Kings...
I would assume McDyess gets a buyout. It's wishful thinking on the C's part, I bet the Bulls could get more than contracts, so throw some draft picks around so everyone leaves with a smile... http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yz6gl9u
And the answer is Yes. I did have some time on my hands today.

What will the Celtics do this week?
The NBA trade deadline is this Thursday. The Celtics have had many rumors floating around with guys like Ray Allen, Rasheed Wallace, and Glen Davis all on the move at one time or another. Why not get rid of them all in a classic 4-Team-12-Player shake up?
Note: this did not take that long, and there was not a ton of thought put into it. I should come up with one that would be even better. But check it out... http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yfyobsl
What do you think? A starting lineup of Rondo, Kevin Martin, Pierce, Garnett, & Perkins... a bench of D.J. Augustin, House, Daniels, and Carlos Boozer. I like. They got to do something here in the next few days.
I will not freak out if the Cavs get Amare Stoudemire... that would make them slightly better in my opinion, but certainly not a slam dunk. Antawn Jamison is intriguing as well to them, and one rumor had Cleveland potentially getting both guys. In that scenario Shaq would have to go, which would be bad... for Celtics' fans.
Who should the Celtics target? Because I can make it happen in the trade machine. I'll deal anyone but Rondo and Pierce. Let's go!
