Teemu Selanne Calls it a Career

Ducks F Teemu Selanne played his last game in the NHL after 21 seasons.  

More importantly he was one the very few active players who was in one of the greatest video games of all time. NHL 95 for SEGA. 

He wasn't just in the game, he was one of the stars.

Throwback Thursday: College Football '96 for SEGA

This was one of the great SEGA football games going.  I remember using Ohio State a lot, which is strange because don't like them... at all.  I always rooted for Florida State growing up (big Charlie Ward, Warrick Dunn fan.)  But I played with the Buckeyes.  The reason?  Simple, Eddie George and Terry Glenn were unreal.  And even Bobby Hoying wasn't trash.   Solid backup team was USC, Keyshawn Johnson was a monster and caught everything.  

Great game!  And look, 108 teams!  (Seriously though, that was crazy badass at the time, it took me forever to pick who to play with.)

Throwback Thursday

It was impossible to throw in this game. You'd drop back and just have to sling it blind. No clue where the wideouts were. 

Although I think I set records for rushing yards in a season with BOTH Randall Cunningham and Ricky Watters. 

New York Rangers Preview (NHL 95 Edition)

If I remember anything about the New York Rangers, it's that they were solid at all 3 levels.  And if you were to turn line changes off, then they mean business.  Overall rating in parenthesis.

Jagr vs. Brodeur

It's 2013 and Jaromir Jagr is playing for the Bruins against Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils.  We're talking about two of the greatest players in the history of the game.  And they were getting it done in the 90s.  Therefore I am very familiar with their work.  Although I did not use the Penguins or Devils much at all in my SEGA days, you knew how good these two were.

NHL '95 stats:

#68 - Jaromir Jagr - F - Pittsburgh Penguins = 87 rating

#30 - Martin Brodeur - G - New Jersey Devils = 78 rating

And here we are tonight watching them go at it.  Unreal.

Bruins vs. Canucks Game 7 (NHL '95 Rosters)

The Bruins are playing their biggest game in nearly 4 decades tonight as its Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. They are facing a team that has become as hated as the Canadiens, Heat, and Yankees, the spineless Vancouver Canucks.

Bruins Advance to Conference Semis

The Bruins defeated the Buffalo Sabres in 6 games to move on to the 2nd round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. They will face either Philly or Pittsburgh. To help celebrate that feat, check out a highlight video from NHL '95 for SEGA. (1 of the 5 greatest video games of all time, fact.)

NBA Jam Challenge

Turn the clocks back 17 years, and you will see that you are playing NBA Jam for SEGA and or Super Nintendo. Good for you, great choice. Besides Mortal Kombat and maybe Sonic, NBA Jam was the best game ever made for my mid-90s system, SEGA. (Apologies to ToeJam & Earl.)

Something to pass the time... I'm sitting here watching the Lakers run away with Game 7 against the Rockets and waiting for Celtics/ Magic Game 7. Stumbled across this the other day, and I know you will all enjoy it.

Mortal Kombat Fatalities



Just some great stuff there. I was always partial to Scorpion and Sub-Zero. The damn Scorpion finisher where he takes his mask off and spits fire (53 seconds in) is just (up-up-start), seems easy enough, but it's not. You're jumping, getting frustrated then the guy you just beat falls weakly to the ground. If those weren't enough we got more below.



The Lakers just lifted off their mask and blew fire on Houston. I hope the Celtics can do the same in a few hours.
