WWE Raw Clash of Champions Preview

Pre-Show

Nia Jax vs. Alicia Fox

It's not about IF Jax is going to win. It's about how and how fast she will win. There really isn't much more to write about this match. Jax should squash Fox and continue to squash the lower card woman superstars until Creative feels that her time for a title run has come.

Prediction: Nia Jax

Enzo & Cass vs. The Shining Stars

At the time of writing this blog, I'm not even sure if this match is on the card or not, but if it is I don't want to miss an easy win. The Shining Stars are just glorified jobbers who can keep a match interesting which in turn makes wins over them look more impressive than they really are. So let's view this potential match as a showcase for both teams, specifically Enzo & Cass and hope that something cool happens.
I think it's getting to the time where The New Day should drop the belts and stick together while pursuing singles titles. Could work and it allows for some fresh feuds in the tag team division.

Prediction: Enzo & Cass

Main Card

Chris Jericho vs. Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn has me a little lost and I can't be the only one who thinks that. I mean, what does he really have outside of his rivalry with Kevin Owens? It's most likely Creative's fault, but I can only go off of what I've seen with my own two eyes, and that is that Zayn's purpose in this company is to always be the underdog to The Prize Fighter. But now we have an interesting twist with KO's best friend Y2J (which is the most genuine friendship I've ever seen and will never break up) is doing the dirty work for his buddy.
In my opinion, Zayn still has to prove himself more to get a title shot, and this match could be a step in the right direction. But since he beat Owens in their last PPV match, I think he needs to be knocked down a few pegs before climbing back up again. Plus I love Y2JeriKO with all of my heart and never want them to lose again.

Prediction: Chris Jericho

Cesaro vs. Seamus -- Match 7

Well who saw this coming?? Cesaro the babyface dropping 3 straight to his rival and suffering from an injury just to claw his way back to a 3-3 series, forcing a game 7.
Everything that the WWE has ever done suggests that Cesaro wins this one. But what I'm about to tell you might make it a little deeper than that. So take a seat, grab a drink, and eat a Besse's Be Bolder Picks Brought to You By Butterfinger

I originally had Seamus winning this match, but midway through this bold prediction I talked myself into a completely different idea. Cesaro was pissed he went to Raw on Draft Night and is still frustrated with his lack of a push, right? And isn't The Miz demanding a trade from Smackdown? So how about Cesaro wins this 7 match series that has literally NOTHING on the line. After winning and receiving no push, his frustration will continue to grow. On Tuesday nights, The Miz will keep going against his GM and building up more and more animosity between the two until Daniel Bryan has had enough. Then, once The Miz drops his belt, he gets traded to Raw for Cesaro and Cesaro enters into the IC Title picture where he belongs while Miz is doing his thing on Monday nights.
Just something to think about.

Prediction: Cesaro

TJ Perkins (c) vs. Brian Kendrick -- WWE Cruiserweight Championship

Admittedly, I am not too familiar with the Cruiserweight Division. But don't hate, I'm just a college student who got logged out of his friends WWE Network account and doesn't have the password anymore, so please be understanding. I will say, I am familiar with Brian Kendrick from his old WWE runs as a tag team champ and I also know that he trained Eva Marie, so I fucking hate him.
Perkins on the other hand seems exciting and I know he tore the house down in the Crusierweight Classic.
Kendrick is pretty old and will probably get a chance with the belt at some point but having Perkins lose in his first time on TV seems lame IMO so

Prediction: TJ Perkins

Rusev (c) vs. Roman Reigns -- United States Championship

This is a pretty crucial match for Roman Reigns. This is the match that will determine post-suspension Roman's place in the pecking order. Is he a main eventer, or is he going to rule the mid-card for a while before returning to the Universal Title scene?
Personally, I think he could make a good US Champ. He needs to build up a good mid-card run before a title push and in my mind that will get him over as champ. I only say that because in this feud I've actually liked Roman, so it only makes sense that this feud has kind of taken a back seat and been a slow burn since their last match.
Anyways, I think it's time for a solid mid-card run for Roman, expect both men to look strong.

Prediction: Roman Reigns

The New Day (c) vs. Gallows & Anderson -- WWE Tag Team Championships

Gallows & Anderson are as corny as it gets but it's made for a pretty good rivalry with The New Day.
Both teams are awesome to watch in the ring and can cut good promos together, but I think The New Day have done as much as they possibly can with the belts, so why not switch it up? I mean, The New Day could easily stick together but support each other in runs for singles titles and everyone would still watch. It's just time for some change.

Prediction: Gallows & Anderson

Charlotte (c) vs. Sasha Banks vs. Bayley

Sasha pins Bayley starting a new program for the belt while Charlotte feuds with Dana Brooke. Keep it simple and let these women main event a PPV because we've seen just how good that is.

Prediction: Sasha Banks

Kevin Owens (c) vs. Seth Rollins -- WWE Universal Championship

How good is Kevin Owens? Well he's held the Universal Championship longer than every wrestler ever.. COMBINED.
Seriously though, is there any way Triple H DOESN'T get involved in this match? He's been off TV long enough and Mick Foley is trusting Steph again, so why not fuck that up?
But Owens really doesn't ned anything like The Authority to back him up, and it doesn't seem like he's really with them like Rollins was. I think this is more of an Anti-Rollins thing than it is Pro-Owens, but that's even more of a reason for Triple H to interfere.
And maybe this is rude of me to say, but I will say it anyways. I know Seth Rollins is my guy and I love him, but I am TIRED of The Shield running the main event. So let's have Rollins lose so we can get a fresh main event scene, huh? Please?

Prediction: Kevin Owens retains

Fantasy Football Week 3 Pick Ups

Kenyan Drake, RB, Miami Dolphins (1.6% owned)
Arian Foster is "day-to-day" and he probably will be for the rest of the season or until he is finally ruled out.  Drake is a 3rd round pick who seems to be viewed in a higher light than Jay Ajayi.  The former Alabama back had 2 carries last week vs. NE but one went for a TD.  He should see much more action in Week 3 vs. Cleveland.

Jerick McKinnon, RB, Minnesota Vikings (24.4%)
If AP is out this week or longer, McKinnon should be the next man up and any potential lead RB is worth at least owning in Fantasy.

Jacob Tamme, TE, Atlanta Falcons (10.9%)
11 catches for 126 yards and a TD thru the first 2 weeks of the season is nothing to sneeze at.  Matt Ryan is going to chuck the ball a lot, their D is going to give up a lot of points, so Tamme is in a good spot.  Throw in a Week 3 match up against the Saints and you got something there.

Quincy Enunwa, WR, New York Jets (5.6%)
Who has the most catches for the Jets thru 2 weeks?  Nope not Marshall.  Not Decker.  It's this guy.  Throw in the fact that Marshall is banged up and jump on Enunwa.

Victor Cruz, WR, New York Giants (42.3%)
So far so good in the return of Victor Cruz.  4 receptions in each of the first 2 games with 100+ totals yards and a score.  This is another offense that will chuck it all over the place.  There's enough for Beckham, Shepard, and Cruz to all put up solid numbers.

WWE Backlash Predictions

With Fall comes change, and for the first time in about 5 years we will be tuning in to a Smackdown exclusive pay per view. Admittedly, I was very disappointed in Smackdown on Draft Day. I thought guys like Cesaro and Sami Zayn needed to be on the Blue Brand in order to truly showcase their talents (even now on Raw they haven't gotten much in terms of opportunities). But Smackdown has actually really impressed me on TV since the draft and I think that Backlash will be a great start for the brand exclusive PPVs.
I've never been one to brag on this platform. I'm as humble as it gets for a former $WWE shareholder who made a nearly 25% profit, a BJ's Club Member, and a WWE blogger with a .672 winning percentage at pay-per-views. So this brand split won't affect me in the slightest. I'm just gunna keep chugging along blogging my ass of TWICE a month now to bring you the most accurate sports entertainment predictions in the world.

Let's look at the card.

Pre-Show

As far as I know, there are no matches on any type of pre-show which is nice.

Main Card

The Usos vs. The Hype Bros -- Smackdown Tag Team Championship Tournament Semi-Final

After The Usos (finally) turned heel, they decided to attack the clear favorites in the tournament and injure Chad Gable's knee. Scumbags. But I'm totally ok with that because to be honest, I think Slater and Rhyno are more over than American Alpha are at this time.. don't @ me. But now picking these matches has become more fun because how could anyone NOT pick American Alpha?
Anyways, now that they're out of the finals we have to have another semi-final match featuring the two teams that were eliminated in said round.. seems a bit unfair to potentially reward The Usos after what they did, but hey, it's the WWE.
I would love to pick Mojo and Ryder but I have to use my brain here. The Usos lurk at the top of the tag team scene at all times so they're gunna win this match to stay in their spot. Perhaps another post match beat down will happen too to keep this means streak alive.

Prediction: The Usos

The Miz (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler -- Intercontinental Championship

I love Mike Mizanin and I don't care who knows. I watched him on The Real World and remember his debut winning streak back when I was in 5th grade like it was yesterday, but he's currently putting in some of his greatest work and I don't want it to stop.
The narrative for this match has been that Miz isn't a deserving champion. In Dolph's last feud he was out to prove that he belongs, and despite losing, I think he did that. So now it's The Miz's turn to prove himself. If anything, he deserves the win on his mic work alone and I'm hoping that Dolph's knack for losing big matches shows on Sunday too because there is no reason to take the belt off of The Miz and his hot wife.

Prediction: The Miz

Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt

God. Fucking. Dammit.
For just once in my life I want this Bray Wyatt, The Eater of Worlds, to get into a program where he truly establishes himself as the face of fear. I mean seriously, will there ever be a time where Bray just goes on a winning streak to truly take The Undertaker's spot? Whatever.
Randy Orton is coming off of getting his skull bashed in by Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam and I don't think he can afford a loss here unless the whole point of this is that Orton is losing it, but I don't think so. And WWE has already shown that they don't think Bray needs wins to stay on top, which at this point is sad but true. So I'd expect a nice bounce back win for Randy Orton, maybe with a Sister Abigail reversed into an RKO, but both guys will come out of this looking good.

Prediction: Randy Orton

The Usos vs. Rhyno & Heath Slater -- Smackdown Tag Team Championship Tournament Final

Assuming my pick is correct this is what we're looking at for a final. Who saw it coming? I want Slater and Rhyno to win so fucking bad and I've almost convinced myself that they will. And seriously, why not do it? What else will come out of this? Slater and Rhyno have a miscommunication to cost them the match and break up leading to a feud? Who actually wants to watch that? Or will they stay together and chase the belts? I feel like the randomness of their partnership could grow stale. There is such a small window for these two guys, and even if it's a short run, think about how great it could be!
But then reality has to set in.
American Alpha has a bone to pick with The Usos after what they did, and these two aren't going to feud unless the belt is on the line and Gable won't be out for long. The Usos' mean streak will continue and they will serve as a heel team for all of these face tag teams to chase.
So Sadly..

Prediction: The Usos

Nikki Bella vs. Becky Lynch vs. Natalya vs. Naomi vs. Carmella vs. Alexa Bliss -- Six Pack Challenge -- Smackdown Women's Championship

Before I dive into this, let's just knock Carmella and Alexa Bliss out of the running to win this match. Neither of them have even had a PPV singles match before and to imagine them as champs is hilarious. So let's continue.
Natalya has been on an incredibly boring heel run and I don't see her being a champ any time soon, if ever, and Naomi is great but hasn't shown that she's ready to be a champ.
Basically what I'm saying is that this is between Nikki Bella and Becky Lynch and it could easily go either way.
Becky Lynch has been such an underdog since she's come up and it's only a matter of time before she has some gold around her waist. But now she's going toe to toe with one of the best women in the company in Nikki Bella who is finally back after her neck injury and looked DOMINANT in her return at SummerSlam.
I think Becky will have a near fall that get's the crowd going, but in the end, it'll be Nikki Bella pinning one of the other wrestlers with her modified Rack Attack/AA hybrid.

Prediction: Nikki Bella

Dean Ambrose (c) vs AJ Styles -- WWE World Championship

Don't do it. Please don't make me say it. Seriously.
I have been so underwhelmed by Dean Ambrose's championship run. His mic work has been solid, but have you noticed that his matches are just the same shit over and over again?
I mean, he doesn't have that outstanding of a move-set and his matches are pretty cookie cutter, but I'm still a Dean guy, it's just time to move on.
I don't have much to write about the match itself honestly. AJ Styles has been a hilarious obnoxious heel and is more than deserving of a title run. Let's just shake things up with the brand split, eh?

Prediction: AJ Styles

You know where to find me..
