Your Thanksgiving Day TV Schedule
It's perhaps the greatest day of the year. Football, Food, Family. Here is what you'll (I'll) be watching this Thursday.
9am-Noon: MACY'S DAY PARADE
Look for my favorites: Woody the Woodpecker and Spider-man. Also Cam Neely and Mike Ritcher will be on a float promoting the next day's Bruins-Rangers game.
12-2pm: THE NATIONAL DOG SHOW
You can watch 30 mins uninterrupted of this bad boy before switching back and forth with what's next. But who doesn't love a dog show? Give me the Working Class every time.
12:30pm: Green Bay Packers @ Detroit Lions
Big NFC North match up here, but an even bigger fantasy football game. Calvin Johnson, Reggie Bush, Matt Stafford, Eddie Lacy, Jordy Nelson, Jarrett Boytkin, and Matt Flynn?
4:30pm: Oakland Raiders @ Dallas Cowboys
Not the best game, but it's still football. Maybe eat during some of this one.
8:30pm: Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens
Two disappointing teams go at it with playoff chances really on the line. The winner is guaranteed anything but the loser is probably done.
9:30: Lady Gaga & The Muppets Holiday Spectacular
I'm no Lady Gaga fan, not even close. But as you know, I'm in on anything Muppets. Pair them with Stalin and I'm watching. Hopefully it's not too much Gaga and friends.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM THE SPORTS BRIEF!

Jimmy the Greek's Thanksgiving Treat
I'm posting these having come upstairs from working out at 12:15pm and learning Stafford and Johnson were both playing. Unfortunately, my picks were locked. And I just watched some idiot Jordy Nelson fumble the opening kickoff, then moments later see Stafford AND Johnson hook up for a 7-0 lead. Fantastic.
Please note these spreads are slightly different from Keefe's, as they come from CBSSports.com.
Packers (-10.5) over Lions
I made this pick with the understanding that Stafford was not playing and Johnson was highly questionable with numerous injuries. Unfortunately, Jim Shwartz is as trustworthy as Eric Mangini.
Cowboys (-13.5) over Raiders
Barber could have a field day, same goes for Felix Jones. I think the Cowboys break out of a recent mini-funk on offense and bust one on Oakland. I'm convinced last week's win over the Bengals was an absolute fluke and Gradkowski's outing was an aberration.
Broncos (+6.5) over Giants
Players only meeting? Good enough for me. Plus I heard Tedy Bruschi on ESPN say the Broncos would rebound and win tonight. If Tedy Bruschi told me the Earth was flat, I would believe him.
Happy Thanksgiving.

The Sports Brief's Week 13 NFL picks
With a short week and three games on the docket tomorrow, we wanted to make sure we got these out today. By the way, last night I joined a few former teammates over at Northeastern for the NU-BU men’s hoops game. It was being dubbed the “Battle of Boston”. NU took a 41-40 lead into the half, but the Terriers came out firing in the 2nd half and took home an 83-75 win. I have to say, although I was excited about the Catamounts in America East this year, the Terriers are the team to beat. That’s a legit squad that could give a lot of major teams some fits, especially come tournament time. They shot 15-31 from behind the 3-point line. It was ridiculous.
Anyway, after the game we went to Conor Larkin’s on campus for Tuesday Night Trivia. We got 17 of 19 correct but didn’t take home the title. However, our consolation was winning best team name and a free pitcher of Bud Light. The winning team name was “Mangini’s Magnificent Meat Curtains”. I assume the owners of the bar thought we meant Eric Mangini and thus found it humorous. However, it was not Eric we were referring to…let your mind wander where it may. Regardless, it got us the consolation victory and that much closer to being fully inebriated.
During trivia, a few sports questions came up. I’ll share them and post the answers at the end of the picks:
1) Of the five major BCS bowl games, FOX has the TV rights to all but one. Which is it?
2) Who is the only player in college football history to win the Heisman trophy twice?
3) Which NHL player holds the record for most goals scored in a season (92)?
4) Bonus question, each answer being worth a point, was: What are the four remaining undefeated teams in college football?
Onto the picks…

Happy thanksgiving to everyone from The Sports Brief.
