Celtics Don't Trade, Use Both Picks

With all the trade rumors flying around, the Celtics simply made their two draft picks. No more, no less.  Kevin Love in? Nope.  Rajon Rondo gone?  Not yet anyway.

Quick thoughts...

#6.  MARCUS SMART, PG, Oklahoma State, Sophomore

I like Smart a lot as a prospect, how he fits with Rondo and Bradley remains to be seen. (Worst shooting backcourt ever?). Smart doesn't shoot well, right now, but does a lot of things on the floor. He's big, strong, and athletic.  I see shades of Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook.  That'd be high, but we can dream. I think Bradley is gone, Rondo starts the year with team then he or Smart is dealt and a direction is defined.

#17.  JAMES YOUNG, SG/SF, Kentucky, Freshmen

One of the youngest players in the draft, turns 19 in the middle of August.  Looks like a great shooter despite only 35% from 3 last year.  He's long, should defend 2s and 3s.  He can score, something the C's really need.  I was trilled to see him available still at 17.

Now we wait and see how the roster fills out.  Trades should be coming... Maybe even before Winter in the North...
